When building software for business operations, cosmetic patterns fail. The user expects predictability, data density, and clear structural relationships. The Stone Design Language (SDL) was created to establish a design standard suited for professional business tools.
Core Visual Principles
- **Clarity and Predictability:** Virtual elements should behave like physical systems. Elements slide, expand, and fade using deterministic curves.
- **Whitespace as a Feature:** Instead of cluttering the screen with unnecessary cosmetic graphics or advertising cards, space is used to separate functional regions. Every padding choice is a multiple of our 8-point spacing grid.
- **High Data Density:** Clean typography (Geist Sans/Mono), tabular metric grids, and status badges replace generic illustrations.
Layout Radian Maps
Every component in the SDL maps to a strict 12px border radius. This radius provides enough geometric curvature to soften card boundaries without feeling overly organic or informal, retaining a calm, precise engineering-focused footprint.
